PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Managing Editor – HLN, WebStream Productions, Inc., Indianapolis, IN  (January 2008 – July 2010)

  • Worked mainly as lead/reporter/anchor/host/announcer for Horizon League Network’s (HLN) website which features live games, on-demand video segments, a multi-author blog, heavy social media integration, RSS news feeds, and more.
  • Also managed other contributors’ work on HLN by editing blog entries, anchor scripts, video highlights/features, suggesting topics for on-demand video content, shaping coverage of events, maintaining social media presence, and ensuring multiple forms of content were posted properly.
  • Provided coverage of Butler University’s run to the 2010 Final Four.  Put together on-demand game previews/recaps and fan features, wrote blog entries, and conducted 1-on-1 interviews with coaches and members of the media.
  • Used Facebook, Twitter, and other social media tools (live blogging, etc.) in a professional capacity to interact with fans and attract a larger following.
  • Utilized as a play-by-play announcer, color analyst, or sideline reporter/host on a wide range of HLN’s regular season and championship event television broadcasts and webcasts, including men’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, and softball.

Sports Reporter/Anchor/Videographer, WTWO-TV, Terre Haute, IN  (May 2006 – December 2007)

  • Performed as both a live reporter and as a one-man-band, anchored/produced hundreds of sportscasts and filled-in as co-host of weekly football and basketball shows.

News and Sports Videographer/Reporter, WLFI-TV, Lafayette, IN  (December 2005 – May 2006)

  • Functioned as one-man-band for both News and Sports Departments at NewsChannel 18, occasionally anchoring morning sports segments.

Production Assistant/Sports Videographer, WXIN – FOX 59, Indianapolis, IN

  • Worked as a videographer and writer – regularly covering high school, college, NFL and NBA events, as well as IRL and NASCAR events at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION AND OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Served as a correspondent to Rush the Court (2008-09) and contributing writer to The Mid-Majority (2009-10).  Both are popular mid-major college basketball blogs.
  • Hard work has been rewarded with interviews on ESPN 1620 (Omaha, NE), Sports Video Group (website), The Blackburn Review (Dayton Flyers blog), VCU Ram Nation (VCU Rams blog), and have had articles referenced on countless college basketball sites, including the ESPN College Basketball Nation Blog.
  • Developed working relationships with numerous coaches and members of the media.
